First made popular by Madonna and other pop stars in the 1980s, "jelly bracelets" are back with adolescents and children in primary school. But this time there is a catch: In some regions of the United States, they call the "sex bracelets" - with various colors supposedly representing promises to perform to sexual acts on a game called "snap".

As the story goes, break someone orange bracelet (or purple, in some cases) and you will receive a kiss. Red, a lap dance. Blue, oral sex. Black, intercourse. Etc..

However, it is unclear whether young people actually make the ssuch acts. And some experts believe that most young people hear about the game of the recent press reports, are not mutually exclusive.

Snopes.com has devoted a Web site, the exposure of urban legends, the validity of sex bracelets "undetermined be examined."

"Sometimes I have a letter from the child they say is true," said Barbara Mikkelson, Snopes.com 's co-founder. "But I have a hell of a lot of e-mails from children who are outraged that adults think they would. They [the bracelets] are just a fad."

However, some schools in states such as Illinois, Ohio and Florida have banned the bracelets.
